<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><P><SPAN>These data contains the zoning districts for all the municipalities of Crawford County, PA. Where a municipality has zoning, the information will include their zones, the zones' names and abbreviations, the ordinance's date of enactment, the date of the ordinance's latest amendment, and a URL leading to an online version of the ordinance if it exists. Where a municipality currently has no zoning ordinance in place, the entire township is represented as a single zone of “No Zoning.”The GIS information is more precise than the print maps, which implies a false accuracy of the data. The zoning was never surveyed, and the maps are adjusted to fit with other County data already on file. The following rules were generally applied during digitization from the ordinance's print maps to GIS: 1) Where districts appear to follow a road or right-of-way for its boundary, the districts were conformed to the road's GIS centerline and most often meet the centerline from perpendicular to the road edge. Where rights of way appear with no existing GIS centerline, the centerline is estimated. 2) Where districts appear to cross roads at clear angles, the direction was retained. 2) Where districts appeared to follow parcel lines or appeared to clearly intend to follow parcel lines, they were made to conform to Crawford County Assessment Office's GIS parcel lines. 3) Where districts appeared to deliberately maintain a geometry, shape, or direction that our parcel lines did not match, the parcel lines were disregarded in favor of maintaining the district geometry. 4) Where districts appeared to clearly use a water feature as its boundary, the district was formed around what could be seen of that feature by 2014 PMAP orthographic photo-imagery if the feature did not also conform to a parcel or municipal boundary. For streams that form parcel boundaries, the centerline is estimated from GIS parcel data rather than photo-imagery, unless egregious discrepancies between the GIS data exist.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV>
These data were developed to translate the zoning maps of the municipalities of Crawford County, PA, to publicly-facing GIS information. The information here is an unofficial representation of zoning districts and those districts’ designations for the convenience of the public on the Crawford County GIS Webpage. The data were created according to the Crawford County Planning Office’s interpretation of the municipalities' official zoning maps, and were adapted to conform to the County’s existing GIS data. The information here is not a substitute for a zoning officer’s determination of a zoning district and should not be relied upon for making consequential decisions.
